Don't You Love It When ...

You completely surprise someone sooooo much, that they cry tears of joy! That is what happened to my mum last weekend when she got picked up by my dad, my brother, my niece and nephew. She had no idea that they were coming and was completely bowled over. "Why the surprise visit?" I hear you say. A certain mother just turned 60 and had an awesome weekend celebrating with family and friends. Happy birthday mum! I hope you enjoyed every moment of your 60th!

Scrapping Challenges and Just 4 Fun

This week, I have been busy doing some challenges for Scrapping 4 Less. I also did a little Lime Rickey layout. I love this range at the moment and have had a lot of fun doing layouts with it!

Meanwhile ... over at Just 4 Fun, I have added a Just 4 Fun number challenge. You can check it out here: http://wendyscrapshed.blogspot.com/

Retreating is So Much Fun!

Last weekend, I attended the Heirloom Scrapbooking retreat. It was a great weekend of scrapping, laughs, competitions and all round fun. I have created a little slideshow to show you what I was busy creating at the retreat. Also included is my entries for the Chookscraps October Cybercrop.

A Self Proclaimed Scrapping Diet

After spending a couple of days cleaning up my scraproom and putting stuff away from the Retreat, I have now decided that it is time for me to go on a scrap diet - no scrapbook supply shopping until I see a significant dint in my stash (it could take a while)!

Here are some layouts that I have completed this week. I decided to start with some Urban Pirarie leftovers (scrap paper and embellishments):

Scrapping Outback 4 Products October Kit - here is a layout that I completed using the 4 Products October Kit. Unfortunately, I inadvertently added rubons, which I thought came with the kit, so it is ineligible for this month's competition.

Got nothing to do this weekend and looking for some creative inspiration. Why not head over to Chookscraps and join in the Crop In! Make a donation and join in some, chat, fun and scrapping of course. Lorraine has organised some excellent prizes for the auction and all funds raised will be donated to the Cancer Council. Click on the website to head on over to Chooks and I will see you there (www.chookscraps.com.au).

Scrapbooking Retreat Layouts

Finally, my tote turned up today, so I spent the day photographing and uploading layouts that I scrapped at this year's Chookscraps Retreat. An absolute ball was had by all and I cannot wait until September next year, when Jan and I will make the prigrilmage back to WA for our next retreat.

Meanwhile, cast your eyes on the slideshow I have prepared for your entertainment:

Wendy and Jan's Excellent Adventures Around WA!

What an excellent time I have had. I have arrived home safe and sound from Western Australia after 16 days of fun filled adventure! There are too many things to list here about our adventures, however, if you follow the link below, you will be able to read all about our holiday and the things we got up to on Chookscraps:

http://www.chookscrapsscrapbooking.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=9455

I do have a heap of photos that I will be scrapping in future months from our adventures. I also will be making a slide show of the layouts I completed at the Chookscraps Retreat.

Highlights of the Trip:
  • Chookscraps Retreat
  • Gnomesville
  • Tree Top Walk
  • Southwest Coastline (awesome)
  • Rottnest Island
  • Lobster lunch at Kailis' Cafe in Fremantle
  • The Superpit at Kalgoolie - one big bloody hole!
  • Getting up close and personal with some very cute creatures (a Quokka and a sea lion - but not too close to the sea lion because it was a tad bit on the smelly side)!

Lowlights of the Trip:

  • Travelling from Wave Rock to Perth (via Esperance and Kalgoolie) on the dodgy bus from hell - Good one Pinnacle Tours!
  • Arriving at Canberra Airport to find that our bags had missed the plane - Good one Qantas!
  • Trying to leave the long term carpark with a ticket that is not compatible with the new ticket machines that were installed while we were away - Good one Canberra Airport Operators!

I would like to give Pete our bus driver from Pinnacle Tours a big wrap because he went over and beyond the call of duty to get us back to Perth - you are a legend!

Can you hear me calling WA!

This weekend was the Scrapbooking 4 Less Cybercrop, organised by Jan! Here are some of the layouts I completed:

Challenge 1 - Butterflies, Flowers and Leaves

Challenge 2 - Stamping, 3 Types of Distressing and 2 Photos

Challenge 3 - Sketch Challenge

I have also done a few little layouts during the week. This is just one that I did of Taylah.

Another one that I did from WA - we went for a Wine Tour around the Swan Valley.

I will be going to WA and having a wonderful time touring around the south coast and also Kalgoolie. Stayed tuned for the wonderful Layouts I will be creating from the Chookscraps Retreat!

A Weekend Full of Non Stop Fun!

It was chaos from 3:30 pm Friday until 11:00 am this morning. My parents and the munchkins arrived and all pandemonium, havoc and general chaos began. I think I have crammed nearly every activity two little kids could ever want to do into one weekend. I also think that they think that my camera is surgically attached to my arm!!! Today, my house is now quiet and I feel like I haven't had any sleep for about a week but it was all worth it and I would do it all again tomorrow!
In Other news, the Under 18's and First Grade are into the Group 9 Grandfinal. Go the Tigers! There is also the September Cybercrop on at Chookscraps, so this afternoon, while Sam was watching his beloved Tigers win, I was busy scrapping up a storm with some of the many photos that I have taken over the weekend (except for one taken by my mum on Thursday). Here is what I have completed this weekend:
Challenge 1 - Create a Layout using products that start with the letters in the word Spring.

Challenge 2 - Take inspiration from a choice of three given quotes about spring.

Challenge 3 - A Blind Scrapping Challenge.

Challenge 4 - Make a card with flowers, paper tearing and buttons.

All layouts for the Chookscraps CC have to be uploaded by tomorrow night (midnight WST), so you still have time to get some scrapping and have some fun!

Spring has nearly Sprung!

It is the last day of winter and hasn't the weather made a point of showing that winter is not over yet! I am sure it is snowing somewhere because today was absolutely freezing!

Anyway, I have been busy printing out photos and organising kits for the Chookscraps Retreat! I still have had some time to scrap and I have decided to concentrate on WA photos from last year's trip (finally). Here are the first of the layouts that I have completed (of course they are for challenges - Scrapbooking 4 Less!
Scraplift the DT
The picture is of Hawke's Head Gorge. The bling ring shows the hawke's head.
Bingo with a Twist
I have decided that Perth is the city of statues, because it seems everywhere you turn there is a statue somewhere in the CBD! Here is Jan and I Meeting and Greeting some outside St Martins Centre.
Meanwhile, over at the Hen House (Chookscraps of course) ... Jan has organised a very interesting swap - we swap a photo, scrap it and send the layout to the lucky recipient. I got Kim and this is the layout that I completed for her.

Idol is up to the Final Encore

... and I made it to the final 10!

The final encore challenge is based on a sketch, needed to have a celebration theme and two different types of stickers. Here is my entry:

... Meanwhile at Scrabooking 4 Less, I completed the Chinese Whispers challenge and the Sketch Recipe Challenge. Here is what I came up with:

Chinese Whispers: I took 3 photos, 1 cardstock and 2 pps, lace and chipboard titles. I added chipboard shapes, rubons, buttons and a journalling block.

Sketch Recipe Challenge:

Another weekend closer WA ... we are definately on the countdown now!

Weekend of Scrapping

Another weekend has passed and more scrapping has been done. Here are the layouts/card that I completed:

Scrapbooking Outback 4 Products Challenge

Chookscraps Cybercrop Layouts

It is nearly the end of August and September (and spring) are just around the corner. That means that Chookscraps September Retreat is slowly creeping up. I am now busily making my kits and deciding on what photos I will be taking with me to scrap. I am also looking forward to a family visit (including Christopher and Taylah) to Gundagai. I will have the camera surgically attached to my hand while they are here. Lots to look forward to!

A Scratchin' in the Hen House

Another week has past and I have done a couple of challenges for Scrapbooking 4 Less. I managed to finish the "Choose Your Own Layout" and Jan's Monthly Sketch Challenge:

Choose Your Own Layout Challenge

Jan's Monthly Sketch Challenge

If you are looking for something to do this weekend, Chookscraps are having their monthly cybercrop this weekend. There will be lots of challenges, games and chatting going on in the hen house - it is always a good weekend with plenty of scrapping and chatting.

Tonight, I am off to Gundagai Public School's trivia night. If you are interested and around the Gundagai area, it starts at 7 pm, down at the services club! I believe there are a few spare tables left. Cost is $10. Hope to see you down there!

Scrapping Challenges Galore!

It has been a couple of weeks of great scrapping. In that time, I have completed two mini albums and some great challenges. I also managed to get over to Canberra to the Craft and Quilt show on the weekend and picked up some gorgeous goodies, which should start appearing on future layouts fairly soon.

Scrapping 4 Less - Here is the last cybercrop layout and the 3rd birthday layout challenge that I have completed.

Scrapping Outback - Mini Masters Challenge. Scrapping Outback have a fantastic competition on at the moment. There are 3 layout challenges and a large mini album challenge that need to be completed by the end of the month. If you signed up for the competition, you have until 31 August 2009 to get your entries done. If you didn't sign up, have a go for fun because they are great!

Challenge 1 - Monochromatic Challenge

Challenge 2 - Double Layout, outdoors theme

Challenge 4 - Single or Double Layout using the SO Mini Masters Kit

Challenge 3 is the 8 x 8 inch Mini Album, which can be viewed in the SO gallery (http://www.scrappingoutback.com.au/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=2533). I also completed last month's 4 Products Creative Challenge. I really am enjoying creating layouts with only 4 products, it makes you think outside the square.

Chookscraps - last but not least is my Idol entry for Round 12 (Punk Rock). In this challenge, you had to use stamping, doodling and painting.
